To be a good photographer you have to be patient as sometimes you wait for year for a specific moment.
So first you dream the picture (like having a picture of a famous person) and you wait till it works out. 1 day, 1 month, or years.
This series happened a bit different. We wanted to meet one of our friends in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He needed like 15 minutes to arrive. Weather was nice so we took a really small walk around. Camera is with me as I never let it in the car. Actually everything worked out great for shooting so I grabbed my camera. Until that moment we wished the fast arrival of our friend, and suddenly the 15 minutes seemed so small time for me.
So I can’t wait waiting again :)

If you have such a topic it is really difficult to go home. However there might be some other difficulties as well.
The sunset with this landscape and road was a beautiful finishing for that day. Also set the mood – let’s take the road & go home!
Well, wasn’t so easy. We tried to take a shortcut. We failed. So just went to the direction of the closest village as it was getting dark fast. At the village we realized that we are far away from the car. So we were hunting for a ride. After half an hour we found a nice inhabitant who took as back to the car.
I would do it every day just have such pictures!

Sometimes you have to help the viewer understanding your pictures.
One challenge could be understanding sizes. Like it is a very small or very big object. An easy solution is to add to the picture something the viewer familiar with. Like have a person on the picture. That is what I’ve done to help you see how big are the caves!
To make this picture I also had an understanding challenge. As I’ve said these caves are close to the Croatian-Slovenian border – you have to be cautious no to cross the border! We were walking for hours and we knew that the caves must be close … somewhere. Suddenly we spotted a rock on the road with an arrow to the left and some text … in Slovenian. So we have found – go to the left! Luckily my friend could read & understand it. It says: do not go to the left as you would cross the border :) So the caves were to the right.

Who wanna travel for hours to capture a hole? Me!
Ok, it is not a usual hole. It is big, really big. And unique. I was traveling in Slovenia. Checked the web what to visit and found some interesting caves. Short ones you cannot get deep where you need lamps and special accessories. Just perfect for photography :)
I had a map from the internet, still we lost our way. It is close to the Slovenian – Croatian border and we met the border twice before founding the caves. However we were lucky to arrive in time for having beautiful lights!
I made the picture with wide angle lens sitting inside the cave – so you might think that these caves are small. The next post hopefully reveals their real size!

We photographers can’t wait for new stuff that has more megapixels, more details, better colors.
So we can capture reality better. Just to alter it.
Alter to have the feelings we had on old pictures. We have that feeling because old technique couldn’t capture so much details, so much colors …
So we sit in front of the computer for hours to have a picture that we made with one click 50 years ago :)

Having your own dance camp is a very important issue for each dance community. Ljubljana has its own since 2007 and I participated the second one in 2008. It is a small camp that has a very cozy feeling. I’ve taken only some pictures so the gallery does not show the whole event however captures the easy-going feeling! As crazy dancers we were looking all the time for flying high no matter we are on the dance floor, in a pub or outside :) Most of the dancing pictures has been captured on the closing party at a small pub called Egoist. We had really high time with all our teachers! You can see pictures from a jazz improvisation led by Thomas Blacharz. He soon found out that we can use the bar in front of him. The same moment he did it Pia and Gábor (on the left side of the picture) joined him so it seems it is a choreography (but not)!
In the following weeks I’ll upload non-danceing pictures as I’m interested in other topics as well. However will be more dancing pictures :)
