Dance

Dance competition again – however from my town this time!
Local competitions are special – everybody knows everybody so you have even more applaud, shouts and ecstasy!

Happy Hoppers

Happy Hoppers was one of the special guest at Hot Jazz Band’s 25th anniversary concert.
They do lots of cooperation so they could perform together seamlessly.
Light was also fine and the stage was big enough for the band & the dancers. Only I could get a bit closer… So the mood of the picture is bit different as I prefer shooting from really close.

Flashmob again

Last year I was documenting this event and I had to finish this project.
So last year I captured the moments of the trainings, preparation. However I wasn’t there when they performed in open spaces, crowded squares.
This year I could be at one location (they performed it 3 times). Getting better year-by-year :)

Dance at VII. Siófoki New Orleans Jazz Festival

What you do if the floor is not so good for dancing?
Dance, of course. Actually I do not know really any circumstances that would stop you dancing.
Or me taking pictures :)

Melting borders

Everybody is talking about it – no still pictures, no videos – just a fusion of them.
The technology is ready. However it takes way more time to utilize it and find your vision in this new field.
I’m still resisting and making my first timid step on this unknown road. I’m working on a big international event where I produce complex marketing material. Part of this is a trailer video that introduces the event.
It should be a video however I prefer stills so I made a marriage of the two. There is hundred ways to make a picture. Or a video. Can’t even guess how many way you can mix them!

London Lindy Exchange 2010

One more social dance event where I was the official photographer.
Exchange means that we go there to have pure fun. No classes, no competition, no stress, no tight schedule. Just dancing, chatting, eating, drinking.
So here you won’t find much crazy jumps & aerials. “Just” smiles.

When the lights go out …

…it creates special mood for both the participants and the photographer
Participants get excited – that’s clear. And what about the photographer?
He’s crying and laughing at once. Gets desperate and excited. And confused and challenged. And I could write it long…
I was really challenged during Crazy Rhythm Challenge. Light creating flares, lights coming from the wrong way and lighting the wrong spots, no lights at all, too light or too dark scenes. After all I could turn many of these situation to my advantage – watching back these pictures.
I remember how strange people watched me when I was hanging my flash to the ceiling on the top of a ladder …

Still crazy

You do not need competition for crazy high mood. These pictures are still from Crazy Rhythm Challenge.
Besides social dance moments you can see the first jam of a really young dancer. I’ve almost stolen the show as I was laying on the ground within the jam circle to make this picture :)

Crazy Rhythm Challenge

New week – new dance event :) Now pictures from Toulouse, France
South of France really like to dance. They have bigger workshops almost every month. No surprise they are good dancers. And they love to compete.
Crazy Rhythm Challenge focuses a lot on competition & performances. What you can pair up with great dancers. No question you ends up with great photos!

700 smile

In Hungarian we say “a good many people can fit in small spaces” – let’s try it!
The event had around 700 participants. And would be great to have a memory of this crowd. The organizer of the event asked me to have a big group photo.
Well, 700 words won’t enough to tell you how much challenges me and my assistant faced. However only the 700 smiles left!
The other 2 photos shows the teachers of the Festival. You can guess: lots of challenges then, lots of smiles now :)
